Canal and River Trust commits to selective dredging of the marshland
In February Canal and River Trust said dredging the Welsh Harp was impossible.
Today, after six months of listening to campaigners and recommendations from Natural England, the mood has changed and Canal and River Trust has commissioned a hydrographic survey.
The survey will assess selective sediment removal and reprofiling in the protected marshland habitats - a vital refuge for the bird population. This is another step towards restoring these historic SSSI wetlands - a step many thought would never happen.
